The Mountain View High School Band Program was founded in the Fall of 2009 with the school's opening. Setting the standard of excellence, the band program has established itself as an entertaining and award winning group of young adults. It continues to grow and perform in the Gwinnett County community as well as throughout the state of Georgia, and has garnered several awards in all aspects of the program - the concert ensembles, jazz ensemble, percussion ensembles, winter guards, and the Black and Gold Brigade.
Since its first season, the marching band has continued to perform entertaining shows for members of the community and has participated in various events. The band has performed the National Anthem at CoolRay Field (2010, 2012, 2013 & 2014); the Dacula Memorial Day Parade (2012, 2013, 2014); the Mall of Georgia Christmas Parade (2010-present); the 38th Annual Fantasy of Lights Parade in Gatlinburg, TN (2013); and the annual Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas Parade in 2014.
Students have been selected to perform in the Georgia Music Educator's Association All State Band, District 13 Honor Bands, Gwinnett County Youth Wind Symphony, Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, Atlanta Concert Band, Atlanta Swing Band, and have auditioned for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program.
Graduates of the Band Program have continued their study and appreciation of music at such universities as Lee University (TN), University of Evansville, (IL), Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, Georgia Southern University, University of West Georgia, Georgia State University, University of North Georgia, Georgia Gwinnett College, University of Memphis (TN), Albany State University, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke & Middle Tennessee State University TN).
